Art is intended to last indefinitely so we use only the best materials in our archival prints. Gift items like magnets and greeting cards are not intended to be archival, but we still make sure they are high quality too.
Here is what our lab has to say about their metal prints:
MetalPrints™ represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Your images will take on a magical luminescence.
You've never seen a more brilliant and impressive print! Colors are vibrant and the luminescence is breathtaking. Detail and resolution are unsurpassed.
MetalPrints Endure the Test of Time!
While photo papers have fantastic image stability, Xenon Light Stability Testing results show that the image stability of MetalPrints is 2 to 4 times the image stability of traditional silver based photo papers.
Fine Art Prints
Both papers are archival as is the process our professional lab uses to print them. To maximize the life of your print, we strongly recommend that you choose the matted option. Professional matting includes mounting your print on foam core board to prevent warping over time. We also recommend framing your print with museum quality glass to reduce the harmful effects of UV light that cause even archival inks to fade over long periods of time.
Our gift items are clearly not archival, they're not intended to be. They are designed to be a small, useful, inexpensive way to "love your world" with our photos. An archival greeting card might cost upwards of $30. Who pays $30 for a greeting card? And as far I know, no one makes archival magnets or decks of cards.
Nonetheless, we want even our gift items to be of the highest quality. They are all professionally printed.
Our magnets are printed on lustre photo paper, adhered to a metal shell which is then pressed onto a magnet backing and covered with a protective mylar sheet.
Our greeting cards are printed on a durable cardstock weight paper. They are blank inside and come with a plain white envelope. The card and envelope are protected with a plastic sleeve.
Our playing cards are standard sized and printed on smooth card stock for easy shuffling and handling. They come in a protective tuck box.
